The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is a structured training program designed for healthcare providers who manage critically ill infants and children. Developed under the guidelines of the Saudi Heart Association (SHA), the course integrates the latest evidence-based practices with hands-on simulation to improve outcomes in pediatric emergencies.

The program emphasizes rapid assessment and effective intervention in pediatric patients experiencing respiratory distress, shock, or cardiopulmonary arrest. It guides participants through a methodical approach, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills stations and case-based simulations.

Participants are trained to:

  • Perform high-quality CPR and basic life support.

  • Differentiate and manage respiratory distress vs respiratory failure.

  • Recognize and treat various types of shock.

  • Identify arrhythmias and initiate appropriate cardiac arrest algorithms.

  • Apply teamwork and communication strategies in high-stress resuscitation scenarios.

  • Lead post-resuscitation care to stabilize patients and prevent further deterioration.
